A reliable mercury free chemical oxygen demand (COD) method
Analytical Methods, 2009A simple, but reliable mercury free method to analyse chemical oxygen demand is introduced. The method is based on international standard procedures but avoids the highly toxic mercury. In the procedure the oxidation temperature is brought down from 148 °C to 120 °C.

Development of Chemical Oxygen on Demand (COD) Soft Sensor Using Edge Intelligence
IEEE Sensors Journal, 2020The Internet of Things (IoT) based water quality monitoring system, mostly uses cost-effective sensors with a faster response time. Few water quality parameters such as Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chlorine (Cl), and Total Phosphorous, hard to be measured online, soft sensing techniques are used as an alternate solution

An electrochemical COD (chemical oxygen demand) sensor using an electrode-surface grinding unit was investigated. The electrolyzing (oxidizing) action of copper on an organic species was used as the basis of the COD measuring sensor. Using a simple three-electrode cell and a surface grinding unit, the organic species is activated by the catalytic ...

Correlation of the Chemical Oxygen Demand of Water Using Hg and Hg-Free COD Vials
Journal of Water Chemistry and Technology, 2021Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is regarded as a fast and economical way in determining organics present in water. This study clarified that reason of the chloride (Cl–) could be act as the main interference when measuring the COD values, the effect of chloride on COD reading was measured by adding different amount of marine salt (0.600 g (1.125 wt %), 1 ...

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment
The aim of this work was to test the effectiveness of coagulation-flocculation using ferric chloride (FeCl3) and adsorption on a biochar (OSB) prepared in the laboratory and their combination on textile industry wastewater treatment. By coagulation-flocculation, increasing the dose of FeCl3 significantly improved the reduction of chemical oxygen demand
