Chemical Control of Struvite Precipitation
Journal of Environmental Engineering, 2003The control of struvite precipitation was investigated using a range of chemical inhibitors and chelating agents. Initial experiments investigated the mass of struvite that precipitated on jar tester impellers used to mix anaerobically digested sludge liquors. Mixing the liquors resulted in degassing of CO2 increasing the pH from below 7 to above 8. It

Copper precipitates in silicon: Precipitation, dissolution, and chemical state
Journal of Applied Physics, 2002The precipitation and dissolution of copper impurities at oxygen precipitates and stacking faults in silicon were studied using thermal budgets commensurate with standard integrated circuit processing. Additionally, in order to develop a better understanding of the dissolution process, we have obtained results on the chemical state of the copper ...

Precipitation in star sapphire III. Chemical effects accompanying precipitation
Philosophical Magazine A, 1980Abstract Large prismatic dislocation loops, of interstitial character and with 1/3 〈1011〉 Burgers vectors are observed to lie on basal planes in the sapphire matrix around rutile needle precipitates in star sapphire. The loops climb away from the precipitate-matrix interface during ageing, and contain the material that has ‘plated out’ during ...

Coagulation and sedimentation in chemical precipitation of wastewaters
Water Research, 1983Abstract The influence of different pollutants on coagulation and sedimentation in chemical treatment for tertiary phosphate removal was investigated in a model system. Phosphorus content and alkalinity resembled that of an effluent from biological treatment. Several pollutants inhibited coagulation and sedimentation.

Inhomogeneous precipitation patterns in a chemical wave
Physics Letters A, 1994Abstract Inhomogeneous BaSO 4 -precipitation patterns are observed in the travelling wave generated in the bistable chlorite-thioureabarium chloride reaction system. At the wave-front SO 2− 4 is formed and detected as BaSO 4 which precipitates inhomogeneously in the region behind the front.

Chemical Composition of Precipitation at Long Island, NY
Water, Air, and Soil Pollution, 1986Chemical analyses were performed on 387 sequential precipitation samples, both rain and snow, collected at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Long Island, New York, on 96 different days during the period from October 1983 to June 1985. The collection time for each individual sample was typically 30 min.

Mass transfer with chemical reaction and precipitation
Chemical Engineering Science, 1991Precipitation involving three steps, namely gas-liquid mass transfer, chemical reaction and crystallization, is analysed in terms of the coupled equations for the film theory of gas-liquid mass transfer with chemical reaction and the mass and population balances of crystallization.
