Chemical Reaction Engineering in the Bayer Process

2016
Chemical reaction engineering provides an important link between chemistry (kinetics, thermodynamics) and economics (capital cost, productivity, efficiency). The key elements are interpretation of (batch) laboratory data, application of the resultant models to continuous operations, and industrial equipment selection (and costing).

On stability criteria of chemical reaction engineering

Chemical Engineering Science, 1969
Abstract The analogy between the stirred tank reactor and the catalyst particle is used to introduce some of the recent techniques of stability analysis in as simple a way as possible. The relationship between various classes of criteria for uniqueness and stability is developed and interpretations of the less obvious criteria are given.

Chemical reaction engineering and activated sludge

Water Research, 1991
Abstract The applicability of chemical reaction engineering principles to activated sludge systems is discussed. Based on these principles, an explanation is proposed to the similar performance of plug flow and completely mixed activated sludge systems treating municipal wastewater.

ChemInform Abstract: Trends in High Pressure Chemical Reaction Engineering

ChemInform, 1987
Abstract A review is given of trends in high pressure chemical reaction engineering. Besides homogeneous reactions, interest is focused mainly on heterogeneous catalytic conversion under conditions where the fluid phase is either in the liquid, gaseous, or supercritical state.

ORTHOGONAL COLLOCATION IN CHEMICAL REACTION ENGINEERING

Catalysis Reviews, 1974
Abstract The orthogonal collocation method is used to obtain approximate solutions to the differential equations modeling chemical reactors. There are two ways to view applications of the orthogonal collocation method. In one view it is a numerical method for which the convergence to the exact answer can be seen as the approximation is refined in ...

11 Frontiers in Chemical Reaction Engineering

1991
Publisher Summary This chapter distinguishes between two types of “frontiers” in chemical reaction engineering. One type focuses on problems in newly emerging areas, such as microelectronics, semiconductors, materials, and biotechnology. These frontiers represent a stimulus for the expansion and renewal of the intellectual foundation of our ...

On some dynamical diagrams of chemical reaction engineering

Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 1999
A brief historical survey of some of the influential types of diagrams that have been used in chemical reaction engineering is given. These include the phase plane, the simple autocatalytic diagram, and the stroboscopic phase plane.

Chemical Reaction Engineering of Biomass Conversion

2013
Abstract Catalysis and reaction engineering are the key disciplines in a successful conversion of molecules from biomass to end products. The interaction of kinetics, mass transfer, and flow pattern in the processing of biomass is reviewed. A special attention should be paid on the catalytic multiphase transformation of biomass. Chemical analysis and
