Weathering of some Antarctic meteorites: Infrared spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
We studied the degree of weathering of some Antarctic meteorites using the integrated intensity of absorption bands near 3μm to enlarge the data base of the degree of weathering.

Paleoenvironmental changes in the coastal zone of the northwest South China Sea during the last 13 kyr

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Marine sediments in coastal zones serve as valuable archives for understanding the history of silicate chemical weathering and summer monsoon rainfall in source areas, providing insights into terrigenous climate and environmental evolution. In this study,

Structure of supercritically dried calcium silicate hydrates (C-S-H) and structural changes induced by weathering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The nanostructure of supercritically dried calcium silicate hydrates was researched. This particular drying procedure was used to avoid nanostructure modifications due to conventional drying processes.

Climate Change Threatens Micronutrient Density of European Winter Wheat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Micronutrients are vital for human health. Wheat is a major staple crop and a significant source of minerals and B‐vitamins. The impact of climate change on their content remains largely unknown. We evaluated micronutrient levels in European winter wheat grown under historical and projected climate conditions. Our findings indicate that future climates

Temperature‐Driven Silicate Weathering Feedbacks Terminated the Middle Eocene Climatic Optimum

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Continental hydroclimate dynamics and its responses during the Middle Eocene Climatic Optimum (MECO, ∼40 Ma) remain largely unexplored. Here, we present high‐resolution multi‐proxy records from four East Asian lake basins that demonstrate precipitation ...

KCNJ2 is Required for NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation That Drives Allergic Airway Inflammation and Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of the potassium channel KCNJ2 on asthma development. KCNJ2 promotes NLRP3 inflammasome activation through both Ca2+ influx and K+ efflux in airway epithelial cells, which drives allergic airway inflammation and remodeling, suggesting a promising therapeutic target for asthma.
