CHEMICAL WEED CONTROL IN MAIZE

Weed Research, 1965
Summary. From 1959 to 1962 the effects of some triazine and growth regulator herbicides applied pre‐emergence and post‐emergence to maize grown for silage were studied in field experiments on light to medium loam soils at Harper Adams College, Shropshire.Atrazine applied pre‐emergence at 1–1.5 lb/ac gave good control of annual weeds and was superior ...

CHEMICAL WEED CONTROL ON SUMMERFALLOW

Canadian Journal of Soil Science, 1968
Use of residual and contact herbicides was compared with cultivation for weed control on summerfallow on Regina heavy clay from 1964 to 1967, inclusive. A single spring application of desmetryne (2-isopropylamino-4-methylamino-6-methylthio-s-triazine) at 3 kg/ha gave 77 to 90% weed control without reducing wheat yields the following year ...

WEED CHEMICAL CONTROL ON VINEYARS

"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture, Montanology,Cadastre Series ", 2020
The vine is a perennial crop that can be infested with a large number of annual and perennial, monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous weed species. The damage caused by weeds to vines refers to competition from factors of vegetation, light, water, minerals, as well as the increased incidence of diseases such as blight, powdery mildew and gray rot.

Chemical control of aquatic weeds

1990
Abstract Herbicides can offer a cheap, effective, and rapid method of aquatic weed control. However, they are powerful tools which require knowledge and understanding to be used safely and effectively. If misused, they can have side effects which may be harmful to aquatic organisms, wildlife in general and, ultimately, to man.

Chemical weed control in potatoes

The Journal of Agricultural Science, 1966
Dinoseb and TCA were successfully used to control weeds in potatoes by Robertson (1960), and Wood, Sutherland & Stephens (1960). Since then many investigations have been carried out on the use of newer herbicides including the bipyridils, triazines and substituted ureas.

Chemical Weed Control in Gladiolus

Weed Science, 1968
Herbicide tests conducted over a period of 3 years indicated that 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-l,l-dimethylurea (diuron) at 2.5 lb/A preemergence, or a,a,a-trifluoro-2,6-dinitro-N,N-dipropyl-p-toluidine (trifluralin) at 2.0 lb/A preemergence, incorporated, are safe and effective herbicides for weed control in gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus).

Chemical Weed Control in the Seventies

Journal of Environmental Quality, 1972
AbstractHerbicides constitute the most widely‐used and rapidly‐growing category of pesticides. They are widely used in industrial land management as well as in agriculture. Herbicides replace a wide range of more expensive or more hazardous weed control practices.

Chemical weed control in potatoes

American Potato Journal, 1971
Nine herbicide treatments were applied to potatoes grown at three locations in each of 3 years. The locations were characterized by widely different soil types—silty clay loam, sandy loam, and muck—and by differences in rainfall and temperatures during the growing season. None of the herbicide treatments applied pre-emergence gave adequate weed control

Chemical weed control in lupins

Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, 1976
The response of weeds and narrow-leaved lupins (Lupinus angustifolius) to a number of pre-planting, pre-emergence and post-emergence applied herbicides was evaluated in six field trials between 1970 and 1973. Applied six weeks post-emergence, fluometuron and propazine at 0.75, 1.5 and 3.0 kg, carbetamide at 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0 kg, simazine at 1.5 and 3.0 ...

Chemical weed control in tomato

2010
