Phenolate‐ and Alcoholate‐Based Chromium N‐Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes: Structural Peculiarities, Magnetometric and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Study, and Catalytic Ethylene Oligomerization

The first low‐oxidation (I/III) state chromium‐complex bearing a O‐chelating NHC ligand has been synthesized and structurally characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray analysis. The formation of the mixed‐valence species was further supported by SQUID magnetometry and high‐field electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy.

Intramolecular (RO)2PO→Halogen interaction versus intermolecular (RO)2PO···HOH hydrogen bonds. Although the O···I distance is shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of the atoms involved, there is no covalency involved in this interaction.
