Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons. Our theory implies the existence of gradient expanding solitons that are asymptotic to any given cone over S3$S^3$ with non‐negative scalar curvature. ABSTRACT We study the characterization of non‐compact solitons of the extended Bach flow, known as an extended Bach soliton. We prove that a weakly conformally flat extended Bach soliton (Mn,g,V)$(M^n,g,V)$ with harmonic Weyl tensor is Bach‐flat and the potential vector field V$V$ is conformal.
