Atmospheric Cherenkov Radiation
2009After a brief historic review the basic phenomenology and the fundamental physical process that are responsible for producing Cherenkov radiation in refractive media are explained, followed by the elementary theory of single particle Cherenkov radiation that covers the radiation yield and spectral features.

Cherenkov radiation as a serendipitous phenomenon
Physics-Uspekhi, 2015A brief account is given of P A Cherenkov's Voronezh years, a period during which the future Nobel laureate in physics attended school (in the village of Novaya Chigla near Voronezh) and studied at Voronezh State University. The history of the serendipitous discovery of the radiation which was to be named after him is described and its importance for ...

On irreducible fluctuations of Cherenkov radiation
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2001Abstract A formula for integral representation of Cherenkov radiation angle distribution due to the dispersion of the refractive index of a gas radiator is derived. Calculations show that the angle distribution can be asymmetric depending on gas and spectral range.

Cherenkov and Transition Radiation Detectors
2016Cherenkov detectors are based on the radiation emitted when a charged particle is moving through a medium faster than the speed of light in the medium itself. The emitted photons, created in a very short time and emitted along the particle velocity, are detected with photon transducers.
