Characterization of generalized Chernikov groups among groups with involutions
A group \(G\) is said to be a generalized Chernikov group if it is the extension of a direct product \(A\) of Prüfer \(p\)-groups with finitely many factors for each prime \(p\) by a locally normal and finite group, and each element of \(G\) commutes elementwise with all but finitely many Sylow subgroups of \(A\).

On central series of some Chernikov p-groups

Abstract Increased circulating tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases‐1 (TIMP‐1) levels have been observed in patients with acute lung injury (ALI). However, the sex‐specific regulation of TIMP‐1 and the underlying molecular mechanisms have not been well elucidated. In this study, we found that plasma TIMP‐1 levels were significantly higher in COVID‐19

PINK: a tender X‐ray beamline for X‐ray emission spectroscopy
This study showcases the potential of the PINK beamline for advancing research in the field of non‐resonant X‐ray emission spectroscopy in the tender X‐ray energy range from 2.1 keV to 9.5 keV.A high‐flux beamline optimized for non‐resonant X‐ray emission spectroscopy (XES) in the tender X‐ray energy range has been constructed at the BESSY II ...

Heitt Mjölnir: a heated miniature triaxial apparatus for 4D synchrotron microtomography
Heitt Mjolnir, a heated miniature triaxial apparatus for 4D synchrotron microtomography, is described. This new device combines the capacities of a deformation rig and a thermal reactor with large sample volumes and is suitable for a large range of geo‐energy applications.Third‐ and fourth‐generation synchrotron light sources with high fluxes and beam ...

On locally soluble periodic groups with Chernikov centralizer of a four-subgroup [PDF]
Let G be a locally soluble periodic group having a four-subgroup V. We show that if CG(V) is Chernikov then G is hyperabelian-by-Chernikov, if CG(V) is finite then G is hyperabelian.

On n-dependent groups and fields
First, an example of a 2-dependent group without a minimal subgroup of bounded index is given. Second, all infinite n-dependent fields are shown to be Artin-Schreier closed.

Some topological properties of residually Černikov groups [PDF]
In this paper we shall indicate how to generalise the concept of a cofinite group (see [7]). We recall that any residually finite group can be made into a topological group by taking as a basis of neighbourhoods of the identity precisely the normal subgroups of finite index.

Mekler's construction and generalized stability
Mekler's construction gives an interpretation of any structure in a finite relational language in a group (nilpotent of class $2$ and exponent $p>2$, but not finitely generated in general).

Groups whose proper subgroups are Baer-by-Chernikov or Baer-by-(finite rank)
Abstract Our main result is that a locally graded group whose proper subgroups are Baer-by-Chernikov is itself Baer-by-Chernikov. We prove also that a locally (soluble-by-finite) group whose proper subgroups are Baer-by-(finite rank) is itself Baer-by-(finite rank) if either it is locally of finite rank but not locally finite or it has ...
