Chesapeake Bay Extratropical Storm Surges

Chesapeake Science, 1965
An extratropical storm surge prediction scheme is derived empirically for a station at each end of the Chesapeake Bay. The regression equations, which are determined by the multiple correlation-screening process, give an interpolation of the wind field over the Bay by using meteorological observations with various time lags at three stations. Practical

Verification of the Chesapeake Bay Model: Chesapeake Bay Hydraulic Model Investigation

2023
The Chesapeake Bay model, a fixed-bed model constructed to a horizontal scale ratio of 1:1000 and a vertical scale ratio of 1:100, reproduced the Chesapeake Bay from the ocean to the head of tides for each tributary. Reproduction extended to the +20 ft contour.

Reverification of the Chesapeake Bay Model: Chesapeake Bay Hydraulic Model Investigation

2023
The Chesapeake Bay hydraulic model, an 8.6-acre fixed-bed model, constructed to a horizontal scale ratio of 1:1000 and a vertical ratio of 1:100, reproduces the entire Chesapeake Bay estuarine system from the offshore Atlantic Ocean to the head of tide for all tributaries.
