Experimental Evidence for a Metal‐Related Function of a Cyanobactin
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.Cyanobactins such as patellamides are produced by cyanobacteria profusely and have been studied extensively, but almost exclusively for their cytotoxic properties. Discussed is unprecedented experimental evidence for a metal‐related biological function – likely CO2 transport from the ascidian to the cyanobacterial symbiont.
