Overlap between dengue, Zika and chikungunya hotspots in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
BackgroundArboviruses represent a threat to global public health. In the Americas, the dengue fever is endemic. This situation worsens with the introduction of emerging, Zika fever and chikungunya fever, causing epidemics in several countries within the ...

Chikungunya Fever

open access: yes, 2014
Chikungunya fever is an emerging mosquito-borne disease which is expanding its geographical area of activity. Although commonly transmitted by the bite of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in tropical areas, viral strains with a single mutation showed adaptation to Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, which are widespread in several temperate areas of the world ...

Therapeutic Antibodies for Mosquito‐Borne Orthoflavivirus Infections: Discovery, Engineering Approaches, and Advances in mRNA‐Based Delivery Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, Volume 8, Issue 12, December 2025.
This review explores how antibody engineering and display technologies are driving therapeutic advances against mosquito‐borne orthoflaviviruses such as Zika, dengue, and yellow fever viruses. It highlights diverse neutralizing targets on the envelope protein, including the conserved fusion loop, and discusses how Fc engineering, rational antigen ...

Dengue and Chikungunya fever among viral diseases in outpatient febrile children in Kilosa district hospital, Tanzania. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2014
Viral etiologies of fever, including dengue, Chikungunya, influenza, rota and adeno viruses, cause major disease burden in tropical and subtropical countries. The lack of diagnostic facilities in developing countries leads to failure to estimate the true

Identification of TPRA1 as a Novel Receptor and Predictive Biomarker for Oncolytic Virus M1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 48, December 29, 2025.
This study identifies transmembrane protein adipocyte‐associated 1 (TPRA1) as a novel receptor for oncolytic virus M1 (OVM). TPRA1's ectodomain binds OVM particles, while its intracellular domain facilitates virus internalization, promoting efficient viral entry.

Chemometric Methods Applied to Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy for Arboviruses Diagnosis: A Systematic Review With Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 2, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Arboviruses such as dengue, Zika, chikungunya and yellow fever share similar clinical manifestations, making differential diagnosis challenging, particularly in endemic regions with viral co‐circulation. Conventional laboratory methods present important limitations, including cross‐reactivity and reliance on specialized infrastructure. In this
