Temperature‐Dependent Zinc Oxide Cathodoluminescence: Toward Compact Wavelength‐Tunable Solid‐State Photoionization Sources

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A proof‐of‐concept of a thermally‐tunable cathodoluminescence‐based light source is demonstrated using a wide‐bandgap z‐cut ZnO crystal as anode, resulting in the ultraviolet (UV) emission peak shifting from 398 nm to ~409 nm (3.115‐3.032 eV). Our results establish the feasibility of a compact, field‐deployable UV source with potential for gas sensing ...

Pre‐Administration of Akkermansia Muciniphila Prevents the Development of Severe Acute Graft‐Versus‐Host Disease in Systemic Organs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Akkermansia muciniphila, a next‐generation probiotic, alleviates acute graft‐versus‐host disease (aGvHD) following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) by providing protective effects across multiple organs. Pre‐colonization with A.

HUMAN CAPITAL DEMOGRAPHIC TRANSITION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper extends the literature on economic growth and demographic change by developing a neo-classical model of endogenous growth in which both economic and demographic outcomes are jointly determined. The key point in this model is the endogenisation

Indole‐3‐Propionic Acid Improves Alveolar Development Impairment via Targeting VAMP8‐mediated SNAREs Complex Formation in Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of the tryptophan‐derived metabolite indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) on lung development and autophagic flux. IPA alleviates hyperoxia‐induced alveolar arrest by promoting autophagosome‐lysosome fusion via inhibition of VAMP8 phosphorylation, which is suggestive of a promising therapeutic target of BPD.

Vm–MSI: a Vancomycin–Antimicrobial Peptide Conjugate Combating Resistant Bacteria and Broadening the Antimicrobial Spectrum

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A series of vancomycin‐antimicrobial peptide conjugates is synthesized and evaluated to identify the optimal combination. Vm‐MSI, selected from multiple candidates, exhibited potent activity against vancomycin‐resistant and Gram‐negative bacteria by disrupting membranes and inducing oxidative stress, thereby expanding vancomycin's antibacterial ...

Determinants of infant and child mortality in Zimbabwe: Results of multivariate hazard analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
This study addresses important issues in infant and child mortality in Zimbabwe. The objective of the paper is to determine the impact of maternal, socioeconomic and sanitation variables on infant and child mortality. Results show that births of order 6+
