Abstract To sum up, we believe that if natural childbirth or, as we prefer to call it, conditioning for labor, is used not so much for its relief from pain as for its psychological effect on the woman, permitting her to derive a greater satisfaction from having a baby, it is a most valuable addition to our obstetrical armamentarium.
