Relationship between walking movement and reproductive traits in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 39, Issue 5, Page 634-645, September 2024.
Animal movement is often associated with reproductive traits. Here, I reviewed the results of previous studies that investigated the relationship between reproductive traits and walking mobility, which is a mode of movement used by most terrestrial animals, in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum.

Deliquescence‐induced release of ethyl formate and chlorine dioxide from their precursors‐loaded sachets for in‐package fumigation of spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii Matsumura)

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, Volume 37, Issue 4, Page 225-235, April 2024.
This study explored ethyl formate (EF) and chlorine dioxide (ClO2) as environmentally friendly alternatives to methyl bromide fumigation. Moisture‐activated sachets containing EF or ClO2 precursors, citric acid, and a salt carrier were developed, which release fumigants at elevated humidity conditions.

Stages of aestivation as a physiological state and the related biochemical composition in the grain chinch bug (Macchiademus diplopterus)

open access: yesPhysiological Entomology, Volume 49, Issue 1, Page 1-13, March 2024.
Aestivating M. diploterus has shown an increase in thermal tolerance as it progresses into and through its aestivation cycle (from November to June). Examination of physiological changes for survival was investigated by examining the insects' biochemical compositional changes as well as heat shock protein changes that occur over time.
