Spatio‐Temporal Assessment of Fish Biodiversity in High‐Density Cascade Dam Rivers Using Environmental DNA Metabarcoding

open access: yesBiological Diversity, Volume 3, Issue 3, Page 158-168, September 2026.
This study employed eDNA technology for biodiversity surveys and conducted high‐density spatiotemporal eDNA sampling to evaluate ecosystem‐scale patterns across temporal, spatial, and habitat dimensions. We identified 97 fish species from 12 orders, 29 families, and 71 genera using eDNA technology. Spatially, fish diversity indices were correlated with

Migration process of soil water in the unsaturated zone of the Loess Plateau

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2016
The mechanism of soil water migration in the reconstruction and restoration of the Loess Plateau is a key scientific problem that must be solved. Isotopic tracers can provide valuable information associated with complex hydrological problems and are ...

Differential Elevational Diversity Between Overstory and Understory in Tropical Forests

open access: yesBiological Diversity, Volume 3, Issue 3, Page 169-179, September 2026.
Tropical forest overstory and understory exhibit contrasting elevational α‐diversity patterns (unimodal vs. bimodal). Community differentiation is driven by species turnover of dominant rather than rare species, highlighting the need for vertically stratified conservation across the full elevational gradient.

Tree Species Diversity, Canopy Height, and Soil Nutrient Availability Shape Leaf Insect Herbivory in Zhoushan Archipelago, China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
This study explores the relationship between plant diversity and insect herbivory in island ecosystems, specifically the Zhoushan Archipelago, China. The results show that tree species diversity positively correlates with total herbivory, as well as the herbivory of three damage types, and interactions between plant diversity, soil nutrition, and tree ...

Predicting the Current Potential Suitable Habitat of Pinus tabuliformis in China Using Multi‐Source Environmental Data and Ensemble Learning Models

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
This study integrated multi‐source environmental variables and species occurrence records to predict the current potential suitable habitat of Pinus tabuliformis in China using MaxEnt, Random Forest (RF), generalized additive model (GAM), and a stacking ensemble model.

Switchgrass as a bioenergy crop in the Loess Plateau, China: Potential lignocellulosic feedstock production and environmental conservation

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2017
A large portion of the Loess Plateau of China is characterized as “marginal” with serious land degradation and desertification problems. Consequently, two policies, Grain for Green and Western Development Action were established by the Chinese government

Effects of Climatic Factors and Disturbance on Plant Above‐Ground Biomass and Species Diversity of Chinese Grasslands: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
This meta‐analysis across China reveals that grassland biomass is primarily driven by human disturbance and precipitation, while biodiversity is more influenced by climate. Both metrics perform better under mowing and fencing than grazing, with biodiversity and biomass generally sharing a positive linear relationship.

Actual daily evapotranspiration estimated from MERIS and AATSR data over the Chinese Loess Plateau [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2010
The Chinese Loess Plateau is located in the north of China and has a significant impact on the climate and ecosystem evolvement over the East Asian continent.

The Burden of Disease Attributable to Diet Low in Vegetables From 1990 to 2021: A Global Analysis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
Using data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021, temporal trends and disparities in disease burden attributable to diet low in vegetables from 1990 to 2021 were assessed. Globally, summary exposure value (SEV) and the age‐standardized rates of deaths and disability‐adjusted life years (DALYs) attributable to diet low in vegetables declined over

An insight into the different responses to salt stress in growth characteristics of two legume species during seedling growth

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Legumes play a crucial role in the restoration and utilization of salinized grassland. To explore the physiological response mechanism of Astragalus membranaceus and Medicago sativa seedlings to salt stress, salt stress culture experiments with five NaCl
