MIMO based chipless RFID system
2012 IEEE International Conference on RFID-Technologies and Applications (RFID-TA), 2012Chipless RFID systems are perhaps the most eligible candidate for catering the demand of low-cost multiple item tagging in future. However, the absence of a microchip in chipless tags limits the processing capabilities hence the RFID reader has to improvise most of the processing.

One key element of a chipless RFID system is the tag. Since it is chipless, it acts both as the scatterer and encoder. As the scatterer, it needs to reradiate the incident field as much as possible in order to maximize signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the reader. As the encoder, it needs to encode a high density of data on the backscattered signal. There

Chipless RFID Tag Localization
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2013A novel localization technique for frequency-domain chipless RF identification (RFID) tag is proposed. A short-duration ultra-wideband impulse radio signal interrogates the tags, and multiple receivers in the interrogation zone capture the backscattered signal from the tags.

Chipless RFIDs by using metasurfaces
The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014High-Impedance Surfaces comprising multi-resonant elements are proposed as chipless tags. The presence of the ground plane in the structure is a key point in realizing a chipless RFID nearly insensitive with respect to the objects which the tags are placed on.

UWB Reflectarray Antenna for chipless RFID applications
2014 31st National Radio Science Conference (NRSC), 2014The main limitation of any chipless Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system is the very short reading range. In this paper, we propose an Ultra Wideband (UWB) Reflectarray Antenna (RA) system with 2.2 GHz bandwidth centered at 6 GHz for the reader of chipless RFID applications.

Orientation independent compact chipless RFID tag
2012 IEEE International Conference on RFID-Technologies and Applications (RFID-TA), 2012A design concept of a compact printable orientation independent chipless radio frequency identification tag is presented with near-field and far-field reading techniques. The tag consists of a circular patch loaded with multiple slot ring resonators and it has the advantage to be read from any orientation with the reader due to its symmetric structure.

A humidity sensor for passive chipless RFID applications
2012 IEEE International Conference on RFID-Technologies and Applications (RFID-TA), 2012This paper proposes for the first time, a group delay based humidity sensor for chipless RFID applications. The sensor network consists of cascaded group of microstrip transmission line sections coupled at alternative ends. Silicon nanowires are deposited on the transmission line sections.

IR-UWB-based chipless RFID system
annals of telecommunications - annales des télécommunications, 2013This paper presents a chipless radio frequency identification (RFID) system, based on impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) technology. This UWB-RFID system consists of a transmitter, a receiver, two tapered slot antennas, and several chipless tags. Covering the lower UWB frequency band in 3–5 GHz, the transmitter integrated circuit generates signals ...

Exploitation of chipless RFID technology for humidity monitoring
2017 XXXIInd General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI GASS), 2017A novel ink-jet printed chipless RFID humidity sensor is presented. The sensor, based on a finite Artificial Impedance Surface (AIS), is ink-jet printed on a thin sheet of Mitsubishi paper, which is placed on a metal-backed cardboard layer. The frequency response of the AIS provides three deep nulls thanks to the three nested loops that constitute the ...
