Chipless RFID tag for IoT applications
2016 IEEE 59th International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS), 2016Radio Frequency Identification is a rapidly growing technology. Recent advances in wireless technology pave a path for integrating sensors with RFID system. The proposed tag consists of multiple resonators which are used for encoding the data. The tag can also be used for sensing applications by integrating dedicated resonator with the sensor element ...

A chipless RFID readable on metallic objects
2013 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI), 2013High-Impedance Surfaces (HIS) are proposed to be employed as a trasponder for Radio Frequency IDentifcation (RFID). The HIS comprises a multi-resonant Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) on top of a grounded thin dielectric slab. The presence of the ground plane is particularly useful to mounting the transponder on top of metallic objects and in general ...

UCR: An unclonable chipless RFID tag
2016 IEEE International Symposium on Hardware Oriented Security and Trust (HOST), 2016While Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has become popular for commodity and asset tracking and management, the relatively higher price of RFID tags limits its application in the supply chain of low-cost commodities. Recently, cost-effective chipless RFID tags that do not contain a microchip in the transponder have been gaining more attention from ...

MIMO based chipless RFID system
2012 IEEE International Conference on RFID-Technologies and Applications (RFID-TA), 2012Chipless RFID systems are perhaps the most eligible candidate for catering the demand of low-cost multiple item tagging in future. However, the absence of a microchip in chipless tags limits the processing capabilities hence the RFID reader has to improvise most of the processing.

This chapter focuses on the integration of the antenna and multiresonator structures presented in the previous chapters to form the chipless RFID tag. The design of three chipless RFID tag prototypes is presented. The first tag that is designed is a proof-of-concept tag with 6 bits of data.

Chipless RFID Tag Localization
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2013A novel localization technique for frequency-domain chipless RF identification (RFID) tag is proposed. A short-duration ultra-wideband impulse radio signal interrogates the tags, and multiple receivers in the interrogation zone capture the backscattered signal from the tags.

One key element of a chipless RFID system is the tag. Since it is chipless, it acts both as the scatterer and encoder. As the scatterer, it needs to reradiate the incident field as much as possible in order to maximize signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the reader. As the encoder, it needs to encode a high density of data on the backscattered signal. There

Chipless RFIDs by using metasurfaces
The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014High-Impedance Surfaces comprising multi-resonant elements are proposed as chipless tags. The presence of the ground plane in the structure is a key point in realizing a chipless RFID nearly insensitive with respect to the objects which the tags are placed on.

UWB Reflectarray Antenna for chipless RFID applications
2014 31st National Radio Science Conference (NRSC), 2014The main limitation of any chipless Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system is the very short reading range. In this paper, we propose an Ultra Wideband (UWB) Reflectarray Antenna (RA) system with 2.2 GHz bandwidth centered at 6 GHz for the reader of chipless RFID applications.
