Weak Underwater Signals’ Detection by the Unwrapped Instantaneous Phase
In marine seismic surveys, weak signals can be overlaid by stronger signals or even random noise. Detecting these signals can be challenging, especially when they are close to each other or partially overlapping.

Chromatic and temperature induced dispersion can both severely affect incoherent high data rate communications in optical fibre. This is certainly also true for incoherent optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) systems with multi-wavelength ...

Performance of chirped-FSK and chirped-PSK in the presence of partial-band interference [PDF]
To improve interference robustness of wireless communication, spread spectrum techniques are often used. We use the chirp spreading technique along with FSK and PSK binary modulation schemes to obtain interference robust radio communication. The performance of chirped-FSK and chirped- PSK modulation through a white gaussian noise channel is simulated ...

Few-cycle fiber pulse compression and evolution of negative resonant radiation [PDF]
We present experimental observations of the spectral expansion of fs-pulses compressing in optical fibers. Using the input pulse frequency chirp we are able to scan through the pulse compression spectra and observe in detail the emergence of negative ...

Dipolar Coupling Errors in Nuclear Spin Qubits
Multi‐nuclear spin registers of phosphorus‐atom qubits in silicon have demonstrated 99.99% single and >$>$99.9% two qubit gate fidelities. Despite nanometer separation, read‐out fidelities between individual nuclear spins within the register are not identical.

A Low-Ambiguity Signal Waveform for Pseudolite Positioning Systems Based on Chirp
Signal modulation is an essential design factor of a positioning system, which directly impacts the system’s potential performance. Chirp compressions have been widely applied in the fields of communication, radar, and indoor positioning owing to ...

Niobium nitride (NbN) broadband plasmonic metasurface absorbers provide an efficient platform for solar‐energy conversion through hot‐carrier injection. Quasi‐epitaxial NbN features a low work function of 4.0 eV, reducing the interfacial injection barrier and facilitating charge transfer into adjacent photocatalysts.

Generation of optical signals carrying OAM based on vortex fiber-optic periodic structures
In this article, author considers the process of generation of fiber modes carrying orbital angular momentum (vortex modes) using chiral fiber Bragg gratings; in this context, the formation of vortex modes is carried out by converting thefundamental mode
