Discovery of protein-based natural hydrogel from the girdle of the ‘sea cockroach’ Chiton articulatus (Chitonida: Chitonidae) [PDF]
Hydrogels are widely used materials in biomedical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and agricultural fields. However, these hydrogels are usually formed synthetically via a long and complicated process involving crosslinking natural polymers.

Algal epibiont species on Chiton articulatus (Mollusca: Polyplacophora) from a rocky intertidal coast from the Mexican Tropical Pacific [PDF]
Chiton articulatus, a mollusk endemic to the Mexican Pacific, is a species whose ecological associations with the algae that colonize it are not well known. This work describes the epibionts observed on the shells of this species.

Emergence, development, and maturity of the gonad of two species of chitons "sea cockroach" (Mollusca: Polyplacophora) through the early life stages. [PDF]
This study describes and recognises, using histological and microscopical examinations on a morphometrical basis, several gonad traits through the early life stages of Chiton articulatus and C. albolineatus. Gonadal ontogenesis, gonad development stages,

The Multiphasic Teeth of Chiton Articulatus, an Abrasion‐Resistant and Self‐Sharpening Tool for Hard Algae Collection [PDF]
Investigation of the ultrahard teeth of a mollusk find in the tropical Pacific reveals the presence of multiple phases of iron oxide as well as calcium phosphate, with highly tuned microstructural features. The combination of these features results in an abrasion‐resistant tough structure with a self‐sharpening ability, which contribute to developing ...

Hermaphroditism in two populations ofChiton articulatus(Mollusca: Polyplacophora) from the eastern tropical coast of México [PDF]
Through histological analyses, this study reveals an unusually high incidence of hermaphroditism in Chiton articulatus. Specimens were sampled every 30 days between September 2010 and September 2011 at two locations (Las Brisas and Jaramillo beaches, Acapulco) on the tropical eastern Pacific coast of Mexico.
