Enzymatic preparation of chitooligosaccharides by commercial lipase
Food Chemistry, 2008The effect of a commercial lipase on chitosan degradation was investigated. When four chitosans with various degrees of deacetylation were used as substrates, the lipase showed higher optimal pH toward chitosan with higher DD (degree of deacetylation). The optimal temperature of the lipase was 55°C for all chitosans.

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2007Prolyl endopeptidase (PEP, EC 3.4.21.26) is a proline-specific endopeptidase with a serine-type mechanism, which digests small peptide-like hormones, neuroactive peptides, and various cellular factors. PEP has been involved in neurodegenerative disorders, therefore, the discovery of PEP inhibitors can revert memory loss caused by amnesic compounds.

Nanodots functionalized with chitooligosaccharides for blocking chitoporins
Colloids and Surfaces B: BiointerfacesWe report the synthesis of functionalized nanodots as potential powerful blockers of solute transport through a chitoporin. Ultrasmall silica nanocapsules with a diameter of ∼ 6 nm were coated with chitooligosaccharides to be used as a "lid" binding to the opening of the chitoporin VhChiP of Vibrio campbellii.

Concise preparation of biologically active chitooligosaccharides
Natural Product Research, 2009Chitooligosaccharides (COSs) have demonstrated a diverse array of biological activities. Here we report a concise preparation method for tetra-N-acetyl-chitotetraose and penta-N-acetyl-chitopentaose. The FACE analysis showed that the partially N-acetylated COS mixture mainly contained glucosamine (GlcN) and some oligomers [(GlcN)(n), n = 2-7].
