Development of a Plasmid Shuttle Vector System for Genetic Manipulation of Chlamydia psittaci

open access: yesmSphere, 2020
The obligate intracellular bacterium Chlamydia psittaci is a known avian pathogen causing psittacosis in birds and is capable of zoonotic transmission. In human pulmonary infections, C.

A Family Outbreak of Chlamydia psittaci Infection

open access: yesJournal of the Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases, 1996
A family outbreak (3 cases) of Chlamydia psittaci infection was reported. The first case, a 56-year-old man was admitted with fever and general fatigue. Chest X-ray film revealed a consolidation in the right lower lung. One month before admission he had purchased 2 parakeets (chick) and one parakeet died.

Omadacycline treatment of severe Chlamydia psittaci pneumonia with septic shock diagnosed via metagenomic next-generation sequencing

open access: yesJournal of Infection in Developing Countries
Introduction: Parrot fever, caused by Chlamydia psittaci, is a zoonotic disease typically treated with tetracyclines. Omadacycline, a novel aminomethyl tetracycline, has limited reports on its efficacy in severe Chlamydia psittaci pneumonia in the ...

Comparative Analysis of Chlamydia psittaci Genomes Reveals the Recent Emergence of a Pathogenic Lineage with a Broad Host Range

open access: yesmBio, 2013
Chlamydia psittaci is an obligate intracellular bacterium. Interest in Chlamydia stems from its high degree of virulence as an intestinal and pulmonary pathogen across a broad range of animals, including humans. C.

Pharmacokinetics of dolutegravir, tenofovir and lamivudine during venous–venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV‐ECMO): A case report

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 5, Page 1487-1492, May 2026.
While providing potentially life‐saving cardiorespiratory support for critically ill patients, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) may detrimentally affect pharmacokinetic (PK) performance and concurrent drug efficacy and safety. We describe a patient with Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) in the context of acquired immunodeficiency ...

Chlamydia avium‐associated hepatitis in a fancy pigeon (Columba livia f. domestica)

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, May 2026.
Abstract A 5‐year‐old, male, fancy pigeon (Columba livia f. domestica, 380 g), found dead without prior clinical signs, was submitted for diagnostic postmortem examination. Histologically, the animal exhibited heterophilic to mononuclear hepatitis consistent with avian chlamydiosis; however, Chlamydia psittaci‐specific real‐time polymerase chain ...
