The role of peptidoglycan in chlamydial cell division: towards resolving the chlamydial anomaly [PDF]
Chlamydiales are obligate intracellular bacteria including some important pathogens causing trachoma, genital tract infections and pneumonia, among others. They share an atypical division mechanism, which is independent of an FtsZ homologue.

Inclusion biogenesis and reactivation of persistent Chlamydia trachomatis requires host cell sphingolipid biosynthesis [PDF]
Chlamydiae are obligate intracellular pathogens that must coordinate the acquisition of host cell-derived biosynthetic constituents essential for bacterial survival.

ABSTRACT Despite recent genomic studies and increased molecular data, epitheliocystis remains an enigmatic fish disease with no experimental in vitro or in vivo models to aid the advancement of research. In this study, we revert to a classical microscopical approach and screen with the electron microscope the epitheliocystis lesions caused by a Ca ...

The observable structure of persistence modules [PDF]
In persistent topology, q-tame modules appear as a natural and large class of persistence modules indexed over the real line for which a persistence diagram is definable. However, unlike persistence modules indexed over a totally ordered finite set or the natural numbers, such diagrams do not provide a complete invariant of q-tame modules.

Abstract Orthotopic allograft transplantation (OAT) is a significant approach to addressing organ failure. However, persistent immune responses to the allograft affect chronic rejection, which induces OAT vasculopathy (OATV) and organ failure. Porphyromonas gingivalis can infiltrate remote organs via the bloodstream, thereby intensifying the severity ...

ABSTRACT Introduction In the Australian National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP), self‐collection can be performed in any setting deemed appropriate by the healthcare professional who orders the test, creating opportunities to develop innovative cervical screening models that can address known barriers to access for under‐ and never‐screened women ...

Role of lactobacilli and lactoferrin in the mucosal cervicovaginal defense [PDF]
Human lactoferrin is an iron-binding glycoprotein present at high concentrations in breast milk and colostrum. It is produced by many exocrine glands and widely distributed in a variety of body fluids.

Abstract Introduction Antiretroviral therapy (ART) prevents and treats, but does not eradicate, HIV. Early ART initiation is associated with post‐ART virologic control, particularly among African women, and anti‐HIV‐1 broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) may modulate immune responses to HIV.

Persistence in Nonequilibrium Systems [PDF]
This is a brief review of recent theoretical efforts to understand persistence in nonequilibrium systems. Some of the recent experimental results are also briefly mentioned. I also discuss recent generalizations of persistence in various directions and conclude with a summary of open questions.
