Chlamydophila abortus is the causative agent of enzootic abortion (OEA) of sheepthat causes severe economic loss in sheep and goat breeding worldwide. Pregnantanimals do not have clinical symptoms except abortion and weak lambs. Theabortion generally occurs in the last 2-3 weeks of gestation and the animals do notabort again.
