Summary Chlamydophila (Chlamydia) pneumoniae, a gram-negative obligate intracellular bacterium, is a widespread respiratory pathogen. Chronic C. pneumoniae infection has been suggested as a trigger/ promoter of inflammation that may result in vascular lesions. Although the genome of C. pneumoniae has been sequenced completely this information

Chlamydophila psittaci and Chlamydophila pecorum infections in goats and sheep in Egypt
Revue Scientifique et Technique de l'OIE, 2011The aim of this study was to investigate the epidemiology of chlamydiosis in free-ranging asymptomatic and diarrhoeic sheep and goats in Egypt. Faecal swabs were examined for the presence of Chlamydiae by culture in Vero cells and chick embryos, and staining with Giménez, direct fluorescein-conjugated monoclonal antibodies, and immunoperoxidase ...

Seroprevalence of Chlamydophila pneumoniae in HIV-infected children in Vietnam
Journal of Infection and Chemotherapy, 2013A total of 89 blood samples collected from HIV-infected infants and children from provinces of southern Vietnam who were hospitalized at Children's Hospital 1, Ho Chi Minh City, during the 1-year period from October 2004 to September 2005 were submitted to serological screening for IgG, IgA, and IgM antibodies against Chlamydophila pneumoniae (C ...

Liver granulomatosis: a case of Chlamydophila pneumoniae infection
Acta Clinica Belgica, 2014An 18-year-old man was referred to the Internal Medicine ward because of a 2-week history of intermittent high fever, weight loss and cough. Clinical examination revealed hepato-splenomegaly and multiple lymph nodes swelling while laboratory tests showed elevated C-reactive protein, gamma glutamyl transferase and lactate dehydrogenase.

Rechallenge of previously-infected pregnant ewes with Chlamydophila abortus
Veterinary Research Communications, 2005In an attempt to ascertain the means whereby previous exposure to Chlamydophila (C.) abortus can protect against the re-occurrence of enzootic abortion of ewes (EAE), ten previously-exposed ewes were intravenously rechallenged with a large infective dose of C. abortus during pregnancy.

Water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) are affected by high rates of embryonic mortality and abortion related to infectious diseases and non-infectious factors. A number of viral and bacterial infections have been associated with reproductive failure, but there is limited information on the role of chlamydial infections.

Acute intrahepatic cholestasis accompanied with Chlamydophila pneumoniae infection
Medical Molecular Morphology, 2011We report a case of Chlamydophila (C.) pneumoniae infection presenting with fever and rapid intrahepatic cholestasis. A 63-year-old man had a week-long history of intermittent high fever and rapidly progressive jaundice with atypical erythema. The results of liver function tests were recorded. The results of all serological tests were negative; the IgM,

Inhibition of lymphocyte CD3 expression by Chlamydophila pneumoniae infection
Microbial Pathogenesis, 2008Since lymphocytes are a major immune cell besides macrophages in the development of atherosclerosis, interaction between lymphocytes and Chlamydophila pneumoniae may contribute to the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases associated with C. pneumoniae.

The detection of Chlamydophila psittaci genotype C infection in dogs
The Veterinary Journal, 2009Reports of canine chlamydiosis are infrequent, possibly because the pathogen is rarely considered to be a cause of disease in dogs. This report presents details of Chlamydophila psittaci infection in four bitches with recurrent keratoconjunctivitis, severe respiratory distress and reduced litter size (up to 50% stillborn or non-viable puppies) in a ...

Chlamydophila psittaci infections in The Netherlands.
Drugs of today (Barcelona, Spain : 1998), 2009Psittacosis, caused by Chlamydophila psittaci, is a well described but sporadically occurring clinical entity, which mainly presents as community-acquired pneumonia. Diagnosis used to be relatively difficult. However, new molecular techniques, such as real-time polymerase chain reaction, increased detection of cases. Furthermore, genotyping of the ompA
