Rapid HCl Production From Chlorine Oxidation Sustains Coastal Atmospheric Chlorine Cycling

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Hydrogen chloride (HCl) is a major tropospheric reservoir of reactive chlorine. In coastal environments, it is thought to primarily originate from acid displacement of particulate chloride (Cl−).

A Study on the Migration Behavior of K, Na, and Cl during Biomass Gasification

open access: yesBioResources, 2016
The migration behavior of the alkali metals and chlorine were studied during rice straw and corn straw gasification in a fixed bed reactor at various temperatures using thermodynamic equilibrium calculations, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Active Corrosion Protection of Sintered AA7075 Aluminum Alloy via Mn Powder Addition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
AA7075 containing Mn‐rich particles is fabricated via spark plasma sintering using AA7075 and Mn powders. Corrosion resistance is evaluated through dip‐and‐dry tests using 0.1 M NaCl (pH 6.0), and mass loss decreases with increasing Mn addition. Mn‐rich particles function as a source of Mn ions, and formation of Mn‐accumulation films on Cu‐containing ...

Enhanced photoelectrocatalytic breakdown of Cu-cyanide complexes and copper recovery using photoelectrogenerated free chlorine

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2019
The breakdown of Cu–cyanide complexes (decomplexation) and recovery of the associated copper was explored using a photoelectrocatalytic treatment incorporating Cl− in the electrolyte (PEC-Cl) and with WO3 as a photoanode.
