　　台灣本島天然條件佳適合棉花栽培，但棉花生長茂盛的同時，其害蟲也漸趨增多，使棉產業受到威脅及侵害。台灣本島棉產作物之害蟲目前已發現有七十餘種，其中直接影響棉產經濟的害蟲多達十種以上，而最主要的害蟲即為棉浮塵子(Chlorita biguttula ishida)。 　　棉浮塵子通常在棉花生長時就已寄生於葉片上，待其收成時將影響棉花的品質與質量，對於本島棉花產業相當具有威脅性。本論文針對棉浮塵子進行研究，觀察其生活史與生長環境及與棉花的影響關係。棉浮塵子除對棉產作物造成破壞之外，也常啃食其它農業作物。
