Seismic Velocity of Chlorite Under High Pressure and Temperature and Implications for the Lesser Antilles Subduction Zone

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Chlorite is thought to be one of the major water‐carrying phases in subduction zones, both within the slab and in the mantle wedge. Its presence has previously been linked to common seismological observations at subduction zones, including P and S wave anisotropy as well as high VP/VS ratios (>1.8) in the mantle wedge.

Peculiarities of the blood system of animals under the conditions of consumption of drinking water containing chlorates

open access: yesMedičnì Perspektivi
In modern conditions, providing the population with high-quality drinking water is becoming an increasingly urgent hygienic, scientific, technical, and social problem.

Probing the Elastic Anisotropy of Schistose Rocks West of the Tauern Window (Eastern Alps, Austria): The Largest Homogeneous Volume

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The anatomy of orogens is difficult to decipher as structural information is usually limited to surface and seismic data. Seismic properties are directionally dependent on anisotropic minerals, especially phyllosilicates. Due to tectonic complexity, the effect of anisotropy in seismic data is difficult to determine.

Characteristics of chlorites in seismogenic fault zones: the Taiwan Chelungpu Fault Drilling Project (TCDP) core sample

open access: yes, 2007
International audienceThe iron content and the asymmetry of iron and magnesium ions in chlorites are examined for the Chelungpu Fault in Taiwan, which is a seismogenic fault. The samples are collected from the cores drilled for the Taiwan Chelungpu Fault

Multi‐Stage Evolution of Subducted Oceanic Mantle: The Marlborough Ultramafic Suite (New England Orogen, Australia)

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Oceanic lithosphere is continuously destroyed by subduction, challenging our ability to develop tectonic reconstructions. One way to tackle this problem is to examine relics of once‐consumed oceanic domains preserved along convergent margins. In the New England Orogen (eastern Australia), disrupted exposures of ultramafic rocks loosely define ...

Specific composition features of Kodinka Formation mudstones (Upper Devonian, the Middle Urals eastern slope)

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2017
Main subjects for study are the phase-mineral and geochemical composition specific features of Kodinka Formation mudstones. Mudstones build up laminas, beds, pack of beds and strata (up to 9 m). It`s expected that sedimentation occurred in shallow-marine

Characterizing Incoming Cocos Plate Structure Outboard of the Guerrero Gap and Adjacent Segments Offshore Mexico: Implications for Along‐Strike Variations in Megathrust Slip Behavior

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Megathrust slip behavior in subduction zones can vary along‐strike, yet the mechanisms driving this variability remain uncertain. The Middle America trench offshore Mexico provides an ideal setting to investigate the structural controls on megathrust slip behavior.

Pore‐Scale Mechanism of Anomalous Saturation Dependence for Induced Polarization: Insights From Desiccation Experiments and Pore‐Network Modeling

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The complex conductivity method, also known as spectral induced polarization (SIP), is widely used in hydrogeophysical investigations. Power‐law functions with positive exponents between the in‐phase/quadrature components of complex conductivity and water saturation are key petrophysical relationships to interpret field data.
