The potential of the MERIS Terrestrial Chlorophyll Index for crop yield prediction

Remote Sensing Letters, 2014
Regional and global prediction of crop yield by remote sensing is of vital importance for food security in China. Vegetation indices (VIs) sensitive to leaf area index (LAI), such as Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), have been widely used for crop yield prediction.

Sensitivity of canopy chlorophyll concentration index (CCCI) for water stress

2009 Reno, Nevada, June 21 - June 24, 2009, 2009
A variety of remote sensing indices have been used to infer crop nitrogen (N) status for field-scale nutrient management. However, such indices may indicate incorrect N status if there is a decrease in crop canopy density influenced by other growth retardation factors, such as water stress.

Chlorophyll index and photosynthetic carbon sequestration in Northern Eurasia

Russian Journal of Plant Physiology, 2006
An infrared gas analyzer was operated in an open-circuit differential mode to measure CO2 gas exchange in intact leafy and leafless parts of skeletal branches of Pinus sylvestris L. throughout the summer daylight period. The photosynthetic carbon sequestration in major types of forest phytocenoses in northern Eurasia was assessed for middle-aged and ...

A Chlorophyll Index to Measure Turfgrass Response1

Agronomy Journal, 1963
SynopsisThe chlorophyll content is expressed as mg. per dm.2 of land and this is termed a chlorophyll index (CI). The CI correlates with visual turf ratings, responds to fertilizer, but when nitrogen levels are adequate it is little responsive to mowing, irrigation, or shading practices.

A broad-band leaf chlorophyll vegetation index at the canopy scale

Precision Agriculture, 2008
An assessment of the sensitivity at the canopy scale to leaf chlorophyll concentration of the broad-band chlorophyll vegetation index (CVI) is carried out for a wide range of soils and crops conditions and for different sun zenith angles by the analysis of a large synthetic dataset obtained by using in the direct mode the coupled PROSPECT + SAILH leaf ...

VIIRS-derived chlorophyll-a using the ocean color index method

Remote Sensing of Environment, 2016
Abstract An implementation approach using the ocean color index (OCI)-based chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) algorithm for the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (SNPP) has been developed. The OCI Chl-a algorithm for satellite-derived Chl-a data was originally developed by Hu, Lee, and Franz (2012)
