Iron homeostasis in the annual and perennial stem zones of Arabis alpina

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Iron accumulates in secondary growth tissues in the perennial stem zone and is correlated with particular gene expression patterns in the perennial model plant Arabis alpina. Abstract Plants store nutrients, including the micronutrient iron, in bioavailable forms to support growth in subsequent seasons. The perennial lifestyle is preponderant in nature.

Biogeochemical studies on some nickel accumulating plants from New Zealand and New Caledonian serpentine areas : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Chemistry at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Serpentine areas in New Zealand and New Caledonia are described. A study was made of soil factors controlling the distribution of five species from a serpentine flora in the Dun Mountain area, South Island, New Zealand.

Drought affects Fe deficiency‐induced responses in a purple durum wheat (Triticum turgidum subsp. durum) genotype

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Combined Fe deficiency and drought in durum wheat trigger interactive responses: drought suppressed root Fe uptake regardless of Fe availability, and both stresses altered phytosiderophore release, ABA level and Fe transporter gene expression, revealing a trade‐off between water and Fe. Abstract Iron (Fe) is essential for plants and humans, with over 2

Sulphur‐mediated iron homeostasis in four tetraploid wheats (Triticum turgidum L.)

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Polish wheat's tolerance to S limitation enables a well‐orchestrated response for efficient Fe acquisition when S is scarce, involving increased Fe accumulation, enhanced phytosiderophore release, and upregulated TdIRO2 and TdYSL15 expression. Abstract Sulphur (S) deficiency is known to hinder iron (Fe) uptake and distribution in wheat, mainly by ...

Time‐series multi‐omics analysis of micronutrient stress in Sorghum bicolor reveals iron and zinc crosstalk and regulatory network conservation

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Overlap between Fe and Zn responsive gene regulatory networks (GRNs) were found, indicative of micronutrient crosstalk, and conservation of root and leaf GRNs and genes suggests strong constraint on homeostasis networks in plants. Abstract Micronutrient stress impacts growth, biomass production, and grain yield in crops.
