Flow choking over weir flow slit-type flip buckets

Journal of Hydrodynamics, 2015
Abstract The flow choking may occur for weir flow slit-type flip buckets under common operation conditions. An estimation method is developed through introducing a comprehensive coefficient to determine the approach flow Froude number for the flow choking to occur in those flip buckets. The error of the present method relative to the experimental data

Ejector-Nozzle Flow and Thrust for Choked Flow

Journal of Basic Engineering, 1961
A theory for the prediction of flow for fully choked divergent shroud nozzles has been compared with experiment and corrected empirically. The prediction of thrust has been extended to include both the underexpanded and overexpanded flow regimes in this type of nozzle.

Two-Phase Flow through Wellhead Chokes

SPE European Spring Meeting, 1972
Abstract It is possible to find in the literature, some papers concerning the two phase flow through the wellhead chokes, but nearly all these contributions concern only the critical flow. The critical flow, when only the gas is concerned, happens around a choke downstream - upstream pressure ratio

Experimental Investigation of Choked Flow Conditions for Bubbly Flow

Volume 5: Multiphase Flow, 2019
Abstract In an effervescent atomizer, a bubbly two-phase mixture flows through a convergent section before exhausting from an exit orifice. It is commonly believed that one of the key effects of including bubbles is in the substantial decrease in the speed of sound experienced by the two-phase flow allowing for choked flow conditions at ...

No‐Choke Flow in Trapezoidal Channels

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1994
Nochoke flow in a trapezoidal channel with a change in bed elevation is analyzed assuming there is no change in channel sections before and after the transition.

A Review of Multiphase Flow Through Chokes

Journal of Energy Resources Technology, 1997
Three comprehensive mechanistic models (Ashford and Pierce, 1974; Sachdeva et al., 1986; Perkins, 1990) dealing with multiphase flow through chokes have been studied. Their common purpose is to determine the flow through a choke under both critical and subcritical flow. Except for their initial assumptions, these three models are basically the same and

Two-Phase Choked Flow

1997
In this paper a simple analytical relationship is presented in order to evaluate two-phase choked mass velocity emerging from a pipe owing to an accidental breakage, once critical pressure and quality are known. The proposed expression accounts for the dependence of the slip ratio on the flow patterns and can be applied to non horizontal pipes too.

Critical Flow of Wet Steam Through Chokes

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1990
Summary Analytical models and experimental results of the critical flow of steam areinvestigated. A new parameter, the dimensionless critical steam flux derivedfrom the perfect-gas model, has proved to be useful and convenient forcorrelating critical-flow data.

Choked two-phase flow during electrochemical machining

Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, 1987
A one-dimensional, two-phase fluid flow theory is formulated for the electrolyte-gas mixture behaviour in the interelectrode gap during electrochemical machining. The condition for generating the choked two-phase flow is described by an analytical formula. The initiation of choked two-phase flow in a flat, axially symmetric cavity is discussed.
