Performance of Diagnostic Guidelines in the Evaluation of Choledocholithiasis in Patients With Acute Biliary Presentation: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Optimal management of acute biliary disease should include an assessment for possible choledocholithiasis (CBDS). Various diagnostic guidelines have been developed by expert bodies for this purpose, but uncertainties remain about their performance in wider practice.

Hidden papilla and periampullary diverticulum: Curtain up for stacked folds

open access: yesJGH Open, 2019
Proper identification of the Vaterian papilla is a vital prerequisite for success in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. Overall, a “hidden papilla” situation is uncommon, often attributable to, for example, intradiverticular localizations in

COMPARISON OF ULTRASOUND WITH ENDOSCOPIC RETROGRADE CHOLANGIOPANCREATOGRAPHY AND SURGERY IN THE DETECTION OF SITE AND CAUSE BILE DUCTS DILATATION [PDF]

open access: yes
background and Objectives: Ultrasound (US) is the initial imaging test used in the evaluation of patients with biliary tract disease. Our retrospective study was designed to evaluate the capacity of ultrasound to determine the cause and site of bile ...

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography versus endoscopic ultrasound for tissue diagnosis of malignant biliary stricture: Systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesEndoscopic Ultrasound, 2016
Background and Aims: There are no systematic reviews comparing the use of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)-based brush cytology and forceps biopsy and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) for the diagnosis ...

Imaging of Abdominal Complications in Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is the most common paediatric malignancy and remains one of the most common causes of cancer‐related death in children and adolescents. Five‐year overall survival rates now exceed 90% with current multidrug chemotherapeutic regimens. This improvement, coupled with the toxicity of chemotherapy, has led to the

To Stent or Not to Stent: Is It a Question? Routine Trans‐Cystic Stenting Does Not Reduce Biliary Anastomotic Strictures Post‐Liver Transplantation

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Biliary anastomotic stricture (BAS) occurs with variable incidence following orthotopic liver transplantation. This study aimed to assess the risk factors for BAS in a large cohort and showed that routine trans‐cystic biliary stenting had no impact on its development.

Does out of Hours Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography Lead to Higher Pancreatitis and Hospitalization Rates?

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
The aim of this study was to determine if ERCP related morbidity is higher if performed out of workinghours. Contemporaneously collected data patients undergoing ERCP at an Australian hospital were analysed. No difference was found in rates of post‐ERCP pancreatitis (PEP) in patients undergoing out of hours ERCP compared with in hours ERCP (p = 0.759).

Beyond Carrier Status: CFTR Heterozygosity as an Overlooked Clinical Risk Factor for Pancreatitis

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
CFTR carrier status detected via prenatal screening is associated with increased pancreatitis risk in women, but clinical recognition remains low. Integrating carrier results into electronic health records may enhance personalized care and aid in early diagnosis. ABSTRACT This study assessed the effect of CFTR pathogenic variant status, detected during
