Periampullary choledochoduodenal fistula in ampullary carcinoma

Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, 2001
Most patients with ampullary carcinoma have obstructive jaundice without cholangitis. We experienced a patient with ampullary carcinoma who presented with obstructive jaundice and cholangitis, probably because of an accompanying periampullary choledochoduodenal fistula.

Diagnosis and Management of Choledochoduodenal Fistula

The American Surgeon™, 2011
Recent advances in hepatobiliary imaging techniques have led to the increased detection of choledochoduodenal fistula. However, the diagnosis and treatment of choledochoduodenal fistula is still a challenge. In this study, we summarize how patients were diagnosed and treated for choledochoduodenal fistula at our institution.

CHOLEDOCHODUODENAL FISTULA SECONDARY TO DUODENAL ULCER

Archives of Surgery, 1953
INTERNAL biliary fistulas, although not common, are no longer surgical curiosities. Choledochoduodenal fistulas, other than those secondary to cholelithiasis, are, however, extremely rare. Judd and Burden,1in their review of 153 cases of internal biliary fistula at the Mayo Clinic in which surgery had been performed, found only 1 such fistula between ...

Multiple Choledochoduodenal Fistulas in the Periampullary Region

Endoscopy, 1982
Five patients with two periampullary choledochoduodenal fistulas diagnosed by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) are described. In two patients both fistulas were on the oral prominence of the papilla, whereas in the remaining three, one of the two fistulas was more proximal.

Endoscopic Fistulotomy (EFT) for Parapapillary Choledochoduodenal Fistula

Endoscopy, 1978
Up to now, surgery was the only possible treatment for choledochoduodenal fistulas, which are seen more often in Japan than in Europe. This paper presents the value and effect of endoscopic fistulotomy (EFT) as an alternative treatment in those cases. Parapapillary choledochoduodenal fistulas are abserved usually on the longitudinal fold of the papilla

Endoscopic papillotomy (EPT) for parapapillar choledochoduodenal fistula

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 1978
Parapapillar choledochoduodenal fistulas usually tend to occur on the longitudinal fold of the duodenal papilla or proximal to it. Two illustrative cases are described wherein the fistulas were corrected by endoscopic papillotomy. Residual biliary tract stones, that commonly occur with choledochoduodenal fistulas, can be removed by this technique ...

Endoscopic Choledochoduodenostomy for Choledocholithiasis through Choledochoduodenal Fistula

Endoscopy, 1977
A new endoscopic method for treatment of choledocholithiasis in patients with choledochoduodenal fistula is described. In 2 patients with common bile duct stones a choledochoduodenostomy was performed by means of a diathermy snare. In both patients the calculi passed into the duodenum within some days. No complications occurred.

Choledochoduodenal fistula secondary to duodenal ulcer.

Archives of surgery (Chicago, Ill. : 1960), 1971
Five cases of choledochoduodenal fistulas secondary to duodenal ulcer disease occurred. All patients had a surgical procedure for their duodenal ulcer disease, although the presence of a fistula in itself is not an indication for surgery. In three patients difficulty was encountered in closing the duodenal stump due to the presence of the fistula.
