Sigmoid and Transverse Sinus Thrombosis as a Complication of Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media in a Child: A Case Report and Review of Literature

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Chronic suppurative otitis media is an easily managed condition with potential for severe sinus thrombophlebitis complications secondary to cholesteatoma, if not diagnosed and treated promptly. Diagnosis relies on the culture and sensitivity of the drained suppuration, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Surgical complications following cochlear implantation in adults based on a proposed reporting consensus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
CONCLUSION: The rate of severe complications was low and cochlear implantation is a relatively safe procedure. Standardization is crucial when reporting on cochlear implant complications to ensure comparability between studies.

Cholesteatoma: multishot echo-planar vs non echo-planar diffusion-weighted MRI for the prediction of middle ear and mastoid cholesteatoma

open access: yesBJR|Open, 2019
Objective: We aimed to compare a newer readout-segmented echoplanar imaging (RS-EPI) technique with the established single shot turbo spin echo (SS-TSE) non-EPI diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in detecting surgically validated cholesteatoma. Methods: We

The Petrosquamous Septum in Children—A Misleading Obstacle or Reliable Landmark? A Radioanatomical Study

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Volume 174, Issue 1, Page 246-256, January 2026.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the petrosquamous septum in children under 5 years of age and its usefulness as a surgical landmark using computed tomography (CT); to identify petrosquamous stalactite and its relationship to the ossicular chain and external acoustic meatus is also described. Study Design Retrospective review of CT scans.

Fast Small‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering Tensor Tomography: An Outlook into Future Applications in Life Sciences

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 1, 10 January 2026.
This study reveals the future potential of SAXS tensor tomography at macromolecular X‐ray crystallography beamlines and life sciences applications. A new standard in fast data acquisition is set, allowing for up‐to 10x higher throughput. The measurements show mineralised collagen fibrils within the incus bone of the human auditory ossicle.
