Studies on the regulation of cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase and HMG-CoA reductase in rat liver: effects of lymphatic drainage and ligation of the lymph duct.

open access: hybridJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
Lymphatic drainage leads to a significant stimulation of both the cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase and HMG-CoA reductase activity in rats (Björkhem et al. 1978. Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. 85: (532-540).

On the possible use of the serum level of 7 alpha-hydroxycholesterol as a marker for increased activity of the cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase in humans

open access: hybridJournal of Lipid Research, 1987
The possibility was investigated that the serum level of 7 alpha-hydroxycholesterol can be used as a marker for cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase activity. Six patients with gallstone disease were found to have a mean level of 7 alpha-hydroxycholesterol in

Partial Cloning of cDNA for Hamster Liver Cholesterol 7.ALPHA.-Hydroxylase.

open access: bronzeInternal Medicine, 1993
A partial cDNA clone encoding cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase (pHA 7 alpha-3) was isolated from a hamster liver cDNA library using rat P-450 ch7 cDNA (p 7 alpha-11) as a probe. In comparison with the complete base sequence of p 7 alpha-11, pHA 7 alpha-3 lacked about 500 base pairs at the 5' end.

Regulation of cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase expression by sterols in primary rat hepatocyte cultures.

open access: hybridJournal of Lipid Research, 1995
The importance of cholesterol and “oxysterols” in the regulation of cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase is not clear. Previous in vivo studies suggest that cholesterol may up-regulate cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase, the rate-limiting enzyme in bile acid ...

The pool of free cholesterol is not of major importance for regulation of the cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase activity in rat liver microsomes.

open access: hybridJournal of Lipid Research, 1987
The relationship between the cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase activity and the pool of free cholesterol in rat liver microsomes was studied under experimental conditions aimed to stimulate (biliary drainage, cholestyramine treatment, and lymphatic ...

Purification and characterization of cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase from rat liver microsomes.

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1987
Cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase (cholesterol, NADPH: oxygen oxidoreductase, 7 alpha-hydroxylating, EC 1.14.13.17) was purified from liver microsomes of cholestryramine-fed male rats by using high-performance ion-exchange chromatography. The purified enzyme showed a single band on sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (Mr = 52,000 ...

Cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) gene polymorphisms are associated with increased LDL-cholesterol levels and the incidence of subclinical atherosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yesBiomolecules & Biomedicine
The cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) enzyme plays an important role in the conversion of cholesterol to bile acid, contributing to the reduction of cholesterol plasma levels in normal conditions.

Regulation of rat liver microsomal cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase: presence of a cytosolic activator.

open access: hybridJournal of Lipid Research, 1981
Microsomal cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase (EC 1.14.13.7) in rat liver was assayed by a single-isotope-incorporation method, and factors influencing its activity were studied. Crude cytosol contained a non-catalytic activator which was heat-stable and on-

Hormonal regulation of the cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase gene (CYP7)

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1995
The transcriptional regulation of the rat cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase gene (CYP7) by hormones and signal transduction pathways was studied by transient transfection assay of the promoter activity. HepG2 cells were transfected with deletion mutants of

Transcriptional regulation of the human cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase gene (CYP7A) in HepG2 cells

open access: hybridJournal of Lipid Research, 1996
A stable HepG2 cell line harboring a human cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase (CYP7A) minigene/luciferase reporter gene construct was selected for studying transcriptional regulation of CYP7A gene promoter.
