Stimulation of HMG-CoA reductase as a consequence of phenobarbital-induced primary stimulation of cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase in rat liver.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1994
Among nine strains of rat, two were found that responded to phenobarbital treatment with increased activity of hepatic cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase. This effect was maximal after 2-3 days of treatment and was then reduced.

Cholesterol and 27-hydroxycholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylation: evidence for two different enzymes.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1993
The use of 2-hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin as a vehicle for solubilizing cholesterol and 27-hydroxycholesterol has led to a study of their rates of 7 alpha-hydroxylation in microsomal preparations from hamster liver and HepG2 cells.

Esterified and total 7 alpha-hydroxycholesterol in human serum as an indicator for hepatic bile acid synthesis.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
Serum levels of 7 alpha-hydroxycholesterol and activities of hepatic microsomal cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase in surgical patients were analyzed by capillary gas-liquid chromatography-selected ion monitoring technique using a new internal standard, 5 ...

Regulation of bile acid synthesis. V. Inhibition of conversion of 7-dehydrocholesterol to cholesterol is associated with down-regulation of cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase activity and inhibition of bile acid synthesis.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
In the chronic bile fistula rat, the administration of a bolus dose of mevinolinic acid, an inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, was followed by rapid down-regulation of cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase activity and a decrease in bile acid synthesis.

Immunochemical Determination of Human Cholesterol 7alpha-Hydroxylase [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1995
To produce antibodies for determination of the protein mass of human cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase, a fusion protein was prepared from an in-frame fusion gene containing the cDNA for human cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylase near the 3' terminus of the lacZ gene of Escherichia coli.

The Regulatory Role of Iron Transporter SLC39A13 in Liver Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SLC39A13/ZIP13, a newly discovered intracellular iron transporter, delivers iron to the ER/Golgi to catalyze procollagen hydroxylation during collagen maturation. Here, we systematically characterize the cell type‐specific functions of ZIP13 across distinct hepatic cell populations, and identify hepatic stellate cell‐specific ZIP13 as a promising and ...

Post‐Translational Regulation of CD8+ T Cell Fate and Dysfunction in Tumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review delineates how post‐translational modifications (PTMs) function as a central regulatory interface governing CD8+ T cell activation, differentiation, persistence, and exhaustion in antitumor immunity. By integrating antigenic, metabolic, and microenvironmental cues, diverse PTM programs coordinate transcriptional and chromatin states that ...

The 3‐Hit Metabolic Signaling Model for Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Summary

open access: yesAutism Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a highly heritable yet environmentally sensitive neurodevelopmental condition whose biological heterogeneity has resisted a unifying causal explanation for over 100 years. The 3‐hit metabolic signaling model proposes that ASD arises from abnormal persistence of an evolutionarily conserved stress‐response ...
