Cholesterol Granuloma of the Maxillary Sinus Misdiagnosed as Nasal Polyp or Mucocele: Four Cases
The Journal of craniofacial surgery (Print), 2021Cholesterol granuloma is commonly found in the mastoid air cells but is rare in the paranasal sinuses. The most commonly affected sinuses are the frontal sinus, followed by the maxillary sinus.

Cholesterol Granuloma: Unusual Pitfall for Hodgkin Lymphoma Evaluation With 18F-FDG PET/CT.
Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 2021Cholesterol granuloma (CG) is a foreign body-type granuloma that forms in response to cholesterol crystals. Its etiology and pathogenesis are unclear. 18F-FDG is not a tumor-specific agent.

Recurrent Orbital Cholesterol Granuloma
Orbit, 2008Cholesterol granuloma is an uncommon entity, occurring typically in the supero-temporal orbit. Recurrence has only rarely been reported. We describe a case of recurrent cholesterol granuloma in a 48-year-old-man to illustrate the clinical features of the condition, and to highlight the importance of complete resection to prevent recurrence.

Clinical History: A 74-year-old woman, active smoker and dyslipidemic with no other significant past medical history, presented right breast nodule she recently discovered on self-examination. At physical examination, the nodule was approximately 1 cm in size and feels firm.

Pathogenesis of orbital cholesterol granuloma
Clinical & Experimental Ophthalmology, 2003AbstractTwo cases are presented of orbital cholesterol granuloma associated with gradual proptosis arising in men aged 35 and 41 years. Computed tomography demonstrated osteolytic masses in the frontal bone at the lacrimal fossa. Curettage revealed a characteristic histology of foreign body reactions surrounding cholesterol clefts.

Cholesterol granuloma of maxillary sinus
International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2006The cholesterol granuloma is a particular form of granulation tissue developing as part of a variety of tissue reactions. It is usually associated with chronic middle ear disease and is common in the mastoid antrum of temporal bone. Cholesterol granuloma is rare in maxillary antrum.

Imaging of orbitofrontal cholesterol granuloma
Clinical Radiology, 1992The radiological findings in 31 patients with a histologically proven orbitofrontal cholesterol granuloma are presented. Plain films and computed tomography (CT) both show a characteristic lytic lesion allowing a reasonably confident diagnosis to be made preoperatively, thus facilitating appropriate surgery. The most important differential diagnoses on

Cholesterol Metabolism in Cholesteatoma and Cholesterol Granuloma
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1984Based on biochemical and morphological studies, the significance of cholesterol in cholesteatoma and cholesterol granuloma is discussed. In cholesteatoma, cholesterol is synthesized through desmosterol and Δ7-cholestenol (lathosterol), possibly in the matrix.
