Lipid and Foam Cell Accumulation as Novel Pathological Features of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
ABSTRACT Background Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) encompasses a heterogeneous set of pathological processes that instigate lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Using a mouse model of steroid hormone imbalance–induced lower urinary tract dysfunction, we identified luminal lipid‐laden foamy macrophages, although their presence and contribution to ...

Cholesterol Granuloma of the Frontal Sinus Complicated by Mycetoma: A Rare Case Report
Cholesterol granuloma is an uncommon inflammatory lesion whose etiology is still unclear. It is thought to originate from blood accumulation in a pneumatized space, probably after bleeding. The most frequent site is the petrous apex of the temporal bone,

Legumain (LGMN) is upregulated in macrophages during sarcoid‑like granuloma formation. Macrophage‑derived LGMN binds to integrin αvβ3 and suppresses mTORC1/STAT1 signaling to restrain M1 macrophage polarization. Intratracheal delivery of lipid nanoparticles carrying Lgmn plasmid DNA (pDNA) elevates LGMN expression and effectively attenuates pulmonary ...

Frontal Sinus Cholesterol Granuloma: Case report
A case report of a massive cholesterol granuloma (CG) of the frontal sinus in a 15-year-old male subject treated endoscopically is reported. CGs are slowly expanding, cystic lesions that are rarely observed in the frontal sinus.

Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is an ultra‐rare lung disease that can recur even years after bilateral lung transplantation, as in this 73‐year‐old man whose diagnosis was delayed by PAS‐negative BAL and overlapping opportunistic infections (Nocardia, MAC, Aspergillus). Despite initially normal post‐transplant spirometry, he developed progressive

Chronic septic arthritis involves intracellular bacterial persistence and lipid‐immune crosstalk via the PGRN‐BMP lysosomal axis. A dual‐targeting nanoparticle system (NPs@PGRN) restores lysosomal bactericidal function, reduces bacterial burden, and reprograms macrophage immunity, offering a novel therapeutic strategy. ABSTRACT Chronic septic arthritis,

ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nanoscale mediators of intercellular communication with diverse molecular cargoes that reflect their cell of origin. Advances in isolation, detection, and single‐particle analytics have revealed increasing molecular and functional heterogeneity, while exposing limitations in how EV identity and activity are ...

Intralabyrinthine Cholesterol Granuloma
Cholesterol granulomas are typically identified by their histological features, including cholesterol crystals, giant cells, fibrosis, and inflammation. They occur predominantly in the middle ear, petrous apex, and orbital region, with rare occurrences in the labyrinth.

Cholesterol granuloma of the petrous apex
A case of cholesterol granuloma (giant chocolate cyst) of the petrous apex of the temporal bone is reported. The importance of correct pre-operative diagnosis by computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is discussed. This may allow, as in this case, less major surgical management by transmastoid drainage.
