Summary We have reported a case of chondroma of the tongue, which, according to the world-wide literature on the subject, would be the fourteenth known case. The characteristics of the chondroma in general, as well as of the chondroma and chondrosarcoma of the tongue, are analyzed. Wide surgical excision is recommended, with a postoperative follow-up

This case report describes a chondroma of the bladder in a 63-year-old woman with clinical complaints of pain in the left fossa iliaca. The lesion was a tumour with a lobulated growth pattern composed of chondrocytes embedded in a chondroid matrix. Neither mitotic figures nor increased cellularity were present.

Cartilaginous tumors of the larynx represent less than 1% of laryngeal tumors. Chondroma and "low-grade" chondrosarcoma are the most common; 70%-75% of these tumors arise on the endolaryngeal surface of the posterior lamina of the cricoid cartilage.

A case of lingual chondroma is presented, along with the pertinent light and electron microscopy findings. The literature on lingual chondromas has been reviewed, and the pertinent clinical features are discussed and compared with those of other hard lingual tumors, the osteoma and osteochondroma.

Intracranial chondromas are rare lesions. Four new cases are added to the previously recorded 122 cases. These tumors originate from rests of cartilaginous cells at sphenoethmoidal and sphenooccipital synchondroses. Clinically, the major symptom is lower cranial nerve palsy; proptosis and visual impairment can also occur.

Abstract Lingual chondromas, which are very rare, are usually seen on the lateral borders in the anterior two thirds of the tongue, while the ventral surface and the posterior third are rarely involved. In the case presented here, however, such a tumor occurred in the posterior third of the tongue.
