Voluminous intracranial chondroma

Abstract The case of a patient with a left-sided intracranial chondroma located over the convexity, which was successfully treated by total excision, is reported. The diagnosis was greatly facilitated by use of computed tomography.

Orbital Chondroma

A 9-year-old boy was referred for increasing ptosis in the left eye. CT and MRI revealed a well-circumscribed mass in the superonasal orbit. An anterior orbitotomy was performed and the mass was excised in toto. Pathologic evaluation revealed a pure chondroma. Chondroma is an uncommon tumor that may rarely present as an orbital mass.

Intracranial chondromas

Intracranial chondromas are rare lesions. Four new cases are added to the previously recorded 122 cases. These tumors originate from rests of cartilaginous cells at sphenoethmoidal and sphenooccipital synchondroses. Clinically, the major symptom is lower cranial nerve palsy; proptosis and visual impairment can also occur.
