Metastasis of chondrosarcoma

Retrovesical Chondrosarcoma

Retrovesical sarcoma is rare. We report the first documented case of retrovesical chondrosarcoma. The patient underwent pelvic evisceration with creation of anileocecal conduit and colostomy. There have been no signs of local recurrence or metastasis.

Tracheal chondrosarcoma are rare diseases, with only 15 cases previously described in the literature between 1959 and 2008. Here we present a rare case of tracheal chondrosarcoma and a review of the literature. Our patient, a 72-year-old man, had progressive throat pain for 2 years before diagnosis.

Chondrosarcoma of the patella

Pain and swelling in the knee are common complaints, and most patients have degenerative changes in the knee to account for them. A few patients have patellar tumors, but they are rarely malignant. Chondrosarcoma is the second most common primary bone malignant tumor, following osteosarcoma.

Chondrosarcoma of the Hand

A case of chondrosarcoma of the hand recurred 4 times over a period of 32 years. Forty-seven cases of hand chondrosarcomas have been found in the literature. Histological diagnosis is difficult in differentiating chondrosarcomas from benign chondromas. Pain and swelling are the main symptoms of recurrence.

Dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma.

The cases of forty-six patients who had dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma were reviewed. Two groups were identified: one in which a low-grade malignant chondrosarcoma was the precursor lesion and one in which a moderate to high-grade malignant chondrosarcoma was the precursor lesion.

Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma

2 cases of this rare tumour in Nigerian subjects is described. Clinical features indicated relatively slow but painful growth, aggravated in 1 case by dental extractions. Radical resection was followed by 6-year survival without recurrence or overt metastasis. Microscopic differential diagnosis is discussed.
