A case of chondrosarcoma of the maxilla with axial and coronal computed tomography is presented. The value of this new modality over conventional radiographs is discussed. A cartilagenous malignancy was suggested by a soft tissue mass with calcification. In addition there was lysis and osteoblastic bony reaction.

Chondrosarcoma of the esophagus
American Journal of Roentgenology, 1976A 46-year-old man had a large noncalcified tumor in the wall of the thoracic esophagus narrowing its lumen by projection of numerous firm nodular masses. The pathologic diagnosis was chondrosarcoma. Malignant degeneration of a tracheobronchial cartilaginous remnant is the main consideration in this first recorded case of esophageal chondrosarcoma.

Thoracic extraskeletal chondrosarcomas are uncommon tumors. A case of primary chondrosarcoma of the pleura is presented. Complete surgical resection without adjuvant therapy, even in the presence of pleural seeding, appears to offer a favorable long-term prognosis.
