Such a screen might support the phasing out of some vertebrate testing.

Monitoring of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection in mustelids
EFSA Journal, Volume 19, Issue 3, March 2021., 2021 Abstract American mink and ferret are highly susceptible to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2), but no information is available for other mustelid species. SARS‐CoV‐2 spreads very efficiently within mink farms once introduced, by direct and indirect contact, high within‐farm animal density increases the chance for transmission.

EFSA Journal, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2018., 2018 Between 16 May and 15 August 2018, three highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A(H5N8) outbreaks in poultry establishments and three HPAI A(H5N6) outbreaks in wild birds were reported in Europe. Three low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) outbreaks were reported in three Member States.
