An annotated checklist of Thaliaceans (Chordata: Tunicates)
Marine Biodiversity, 2017A checklist of the Class Thaliacea is presented after an extensive literature review. Synonymies, type locality, diagnostic characters of different life cycle stages and a summary of worldwide distribution are presented for the maximum number of available species possible. Origin of Chordata and the “Upside-Down Theory”
Russian Journal of Marine Biology, 2008The hypothesis of dorso-ventral axis inversion in Chordata based on recent molecular biology data is discussed from the viewpoint of evolutionary morphology. It is supposed that, as a result of such an inversion, the nerve cord located ventrally in most Invertebrata found itself on the dorsal side of Chordata.
