Choristomas are congenital lesions representing normal tissue(s) in an abnormal location. They are the most common epibulbar and orbital tumors in children. Epibulbar choristomas affect the cornea, limbus or subconjunctival space, and range in appearance from a small, flat lesion to a large mass filling most of the epibulbar region.

Cartilaginous choristoma of the nasopharynx
Clinical Anatomy, 2000A 21-year-old white male presented with persistent adenoiditis. A computed tomography (CT) scan with contrast was performed and was interpreted as normal. An adenoidectomy was performed, and histologic examination demonstrated the unexpected presence of a mature island of hyaline cartilage surrounded by lymphoid hyperplasia.
