Exploring choroidal angioarchitecture in health and disease using choroidal vascularity index
Progress in Retinal and Eye Research, 2020The choroid is one of the most vascularized structures of the human body and plays an irreplaceable role in nourishing photoreceptors. As such, choroidal dysfunction is implicated in a multitude of ocular diseases. Studying the choroid can lead to a better understanding of disease pathogenesis, progression and discovery of novel management strategies ...

PERIPAPILLARY CHOROIDAL NEOVASCULARIZATION IN BEST DISEASE
RETINAL Cases & Brief Reports, 2012Best disease is an autosomal dominant retinal dystrophy with a variable phenotypic expression. Clinically, it is characterized by a vitelliform lesion in the macula because of the deposition of yellow material in a dome-shaped configuration, believed to be lipofuscin that accumulates within and beneath the retinal pigment epithelium.

Choroidal occlusive disease in sickle cell hemoglobinopathies
Survey of Ophthalmology, 1979Two distinct episodes of posterior ciliary artery occlusion were studied in a 32-year-old man with hemoglobin SS disease and multiple episodes of amaurosis fugax. Although posterior ciliary artery occlusions have been observed following photocoagulation of sickle cell retinopathy, their spontaneous evolution in patients with sickling hemoglobinopathies
