Aggressive choroid plexus papilloma
World Neurosurgery, 1984A young woman, who was initially treated for an Arnold-Chiari malformation, was found 7 years later to have a posterior third ventricular tumor. A superior cerebellar approach allowed total resection of the mass, which was an aggressive choroid plexus papilloma. The patient was treated with whole cerebrospinal axis radiation.

Papillomas of the Choroid Plexus
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1968p APILLOMAS of the choroid plexus are solitary reddish grey tumors attached to the choroid plexus. The irregular surface is covered by a thin transparent capsule, and the firm tumor occasionally is partly calcified. Microscopically, papillomas resemble normal choroid plexus, being composed of columnar or cuboidal epithelium supported by highly ...

Choroid plexus papillomas (CPPs) are rare neoplasms accounting for less than 1% of all intracranial tumours. We present our experience with 13 consecutive cases managed by us between 1981 and 1991. There were eight children and five adults. Five patients had tumours in the 4th ventricle, four in lateral ventricle, one in the 3rd ventricle, two in the ...

Polyploidy in atypical grade II choroid plexus papilloma of the posterior fossa
Cytogenetic studies of choroid plexus tumors, particularly for atypical choroid plexus papillomas, have been rarely described. In the present report, the cytogenetic investigation of an atypical choroid plexus papilloma occurring at the posterior fossa ...

Choroid plexus papillomas in childhood
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 1995Chroid plexus papillomas account for only 0.4-0.6% of intracranial tumours at all ages and less than 5% in childhood. Two paediatric cases are reported to demonstrate the variability in clinical presentation, location and neurological outcome of this benign tumour. One case has been followed for 13 years.

Progression of choroid plexus papilloma
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2013Choroid plexus papillomas are rare neoplasms that arise from choroid plexus epithelium. The World Health Organization classification describes three histological grades. Grade I is choroid plexus papilloma, grade II is atypical choroid plexus papilloma and grade III is choroid plexus carcinoma. Progression between grades is rare but documented.

A review is made of 234 cases of choroid plexus papillomas collected from the literature, to which 11 unpublished personal cases are added. The clinical features, plain roentgenographic findings of the skull, and the value of pneumography, cerebral angiography and gamma encephalography in establishing the diagnosis are discussed in detail. The majority ...

Pathology of choroid plexus papillomas: A review
Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, 1998Choroid plexus papillomas (CPPs) are rare, usually slow growing neoplasms. Their biological behaviour cannot be predicted in an individual case. Furthermore, the neuropathological diagnosis of these neoplasms is occasionally difficult because light and electron microscopical and immunohistochemical features may overlap with those of other neoplasms ...

An electron-microscopic study of a choroid plexus papilloma from the lateral ventricle of a child revealed fine structural features typical of normal choroid plexus tissue. Utilizing the Ernst technique for demonstrating ouabain-sensitive, potassium-dependent phosphatase activity, Na-K-ATPase was localized along the basal and lateral plasmalemmas of ...

Choroid plexus papillomas - Neuroradiological diagnosis
min - Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery, 1982The radiographic data on 28 cases of papilloma of the choroid plexuses observed at the Neurosurgical Institute of Rome Medical School in the space of 27 years, are presented and compared with the published series. On the present evidence CT has a high diagnostic value in this disease, although angiography is still generally necessary for a pre ...
