Turnover of Plant Species on an Ecological Gradient in Karst Dolines Is Reflected in Plant Traits: Chorotypes, Life Forms, Plant Architecture and Strategies

open access: yesDiversity, 2022
We analyzed plants and their traits in dolines, which are characteristic enclosed terrain depressions on carbonate (karst) plateaus. These landforms range from a few meters to over 100 m in diameter, their depth generally varying from a few meters to a ...

Phylogeographic analysis of Siraitia grosvenorii in subtropical China provides insights into the origin of cultivated monk fruit and conservation of genetic resources

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2023., 2023
The manuscript presents the first phylogeographic analysis of Siraitia grosvenorii, an economic plant species distributed in subtropical China. Our results clarify not only the population genetic structure of S. grosvenorii, but also determin the geographic origins of cultivated S. grosvenorii.

An updated inventory of the vascular flora of the Cerbaie hills (Tuscany, Italy) [PDF]

open access: yesItalian Botanist, 2023
We present an updated list of the vascular flora occurring in the Cerbaie hills (Tuscany), a site of high naturalistic interest. The list is based on a literature survey and on field studies carried out in the years 2010–2022.

PleistoDist: A toolbox for visualising and quantifying the effects of Pleistocene sea‐level change on island archipelagos

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 496-504, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Pleistocene sea‐level change played a significant role in the evolution and assembly of island biotas. The formation of land bridges between islands during Quaternary glacial maxima, when sea levels were more than 120 metres below present‐day sea levels, often facilitated historical dispersal and gene flow between islands that are today ...

An analytically derived delineation of the West African Coastal Province based on bivalves

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 28, Issue 12, Page 2791-2805, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Aim To assess the pattern of biotic regions (BR) and their boundaries, to detect chorotypes and to relate these patterns to key environmental factors. Location Eastern Atlantic Ocean. Time period Recent. Taxon studied Bivalvia. Methods Distributions were scored for 595 species. Operational geographical units are classified hierarchically using

Corotipos de ilhas e arquipélagos: uma proposta

open access: yesConfins, 2021
Space sparsity, low amount of resources, maritimity, facility to recognize geographical and political frontiers, endemism and social differences in relation to other lands are some features of the islands.

Origin of the central European steppe flora: insights from palaeodistribution modelling and migration simulations

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2022, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
The biogeographic origin of the species‐rich steppe grasslands in central Europe has long been debated. The alternative hypotheses are long‐term species persistence in situ versus immigration from the south‐east, either after the last glacial maximum (LGM) or after the Neolithic landscape deforestation.

Vegetation types of the Arid Chaco in Central-Western Argentina [PDF]

open access: yesVegetation Classification and Survey (VCS), 2023
Aims: We address the following questions: 1) Which are the main vegetation types that currently occur in the Arid Chaco? 2) Do those vegetation types differ in terms of floristic composition, endemism, chorotypes and life forms?

Amphibian and Reptilian Chorotypes in the Arid Land of Central Asia and Their Determinants. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2019
AbstractThe analysis of the biogeographic distribution of species is the basis for establishing a strategy for land management and responding to climatic change, but research on the distribution of amphibians and reptiles in the arid land in the middle of Asia is extremely limited. After classifying the chorotypes of amphibians and reptiles in the arid
