From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

Intermittent Overconsumption of High Fat Diet Promotes Microglial Reactivity in the Hypothalamus and Hindbrain of Female Rats

open access: yesCells
Elevated proinflammatory cytokines were reported in binge eating spectrum disorders characterized by intermittent overconsumption during periods of otherwise normal or restricted food intake. It is unknown whether binge eating promotes neuroinflammation,

Calorie restriction with regular chow, but not a high-fat diet, delays onset of spontaneous osteoarthritis in the Hartley guinea pig model

open access: yesArthritis Research & Therapy, 2019
Background Obesity is a leading risk factor for osteoarthritis (OA). In contrast, calorie restriction (CR) may lessen OA due to improved systemic inflammatory status and reduced weight-bearing.

From Mechanics to Electronics: Influence of ALD Interlayers on the Multiaxial Electro‐Mechanical Behavior of Metal–Oxide Bilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrathin AlOxHy interlayers between aluminum films and polymer substrates significantly improve electro‐mechanical properties of flexible thin film systems. By precisely controlling interlayer thickness using atomic layer deposition, this study identifies an optimal interlayer thickness of 5–10 nm that enhances ductility and delays cracking.

VIVID: A qPCR‐Based Platform for Sensitive and Quantitative In Vivo Tracking of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces VIVID (Vesicle In Vivo Identification using DNA), a qPCR‐based platform that tracks PCR‐amplifiable DNA tags loaded in the EVs for accurate and quantifiable EV biodistribution in vivo. ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) represent promising carriers for nucleic acid therapeutics, offering advantages over synthetic nanoparticles ...

Maternal cigarette smoke exposure contributes to glucose intolerance and decreased brain insulin action in mice offspring independent of maternal diet.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
BackgroundMaternal smoking leads to intrauterine undernutrition and is associated with low birthweight and higher risk of offspring obesity. Intrauterine smoke exposure (SE) may alter neuroendocrine mediators regulating energy homeostasis as chemicals in

Frontier Advances of Emerging High‐Entropy Anodes in Alkali Metal‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Recent advances in microscopic morphology control of high‐entropy anode materials for alkali metal‐ion batteries. Abstract With the growing demand for sustainable energy, portable energy storage systems have become increasingly critical. Among them, the development of rechargeable batteries is primarily driven by breakthroughs in electrode materials ...

Lectures on Chow-Witt groups

open access: yes, 2019
In these lectures, we provide a toolkit to work with Chow-Witt groups, and more generally with the homology and cohomology of the Rost-Schmid complex associated to Milnor-Witt $K$-theory.

Chow groups of quotient varieties

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1987
