Chronic lactose intake modifies the gastric emptying of monosaccharides but not of disaccharides in weanling rats

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1997
Ninety-six weanling male Wistar rats were fed for four weeks one of two different chows: a normal rat chow containing 55.5% (w/w) starch (control group, N = 48) or a rat chow in which starch was partially replaced by lactose, in such a way that the ...

Hepatic stereology of schistosomiasis mansoni infected-mice fed a high-fat diet

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2006
High-fat diets induce weight gain and fatty liver in wild-type mice. Schistosomiasis mansoni infection also promotes hepatic injury. This study was designed to quantify hepatic alterations in schistosomiasis mansoni-infected mice fed a high fat-rich chow

Effects of high-fat diet intake during perinatal period on reflex-ontogeny and intestinal morphometry of rat offspring

open access: yesArchivos Latinoamericanos de Nutrición, 2021
Reflex-ontogeny and intestinal morphometrics were evaluated in Wistar rats whose mothers were fed on a high-fat diet during the perinatal period. Male pups (n=52) formed four experimental groups: NN (pups from mothers with lab chow diet during gestation ...

Relative Chow groups

open access: yesIllinois Journal of Mathematics, 1991
The higher Chow groups of a regular scheme were defined by Bloch, furnishing a geometric interpretation for the higher \(K\)-groups. The sheaves of higher \(K\)-groups recover the full ordinary Chow groups, including torsion: formula of Bloch-Quillen, spectral sequence of Gersten.

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Abnormal Glucose Metabolism in Male Mice Offspring Conceived by in vitro Fertilization and Frozen-Thawed Embryo Transfer

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
Frozen and thawed embryo transfer (FET) is currently widely applied in routine assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedure. It is of great necessity to assess the safety of FET and investigate the long-term effect including glucose metabolism on FET-

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Chow groups of weighted hypersurfaces [PDF]

open access: yesComptes Rendus de l'Académie des Sciences - Series I - Mathematics, 2000
We extend a result of to Esnault-Levine-Viehweg concerning the Chow groups of hypersurfaces in projective space to those in weighted projective spaces.
